Etiology (cause of disease): in literature there are cited various causes and predisposing factors starting from the genetic and not ending with the occupational ones. In reality varicose disease is an imbalance between the resistance of the substrate vein wall (determined by its structure, genetically conditioned) and demands on it (the blood pressure in the veins involved) during life. We have a different resistance to the vein wall as we are tall or short, brunette or blond, etc. If the woman starts varicose during pregnancy often that does not mean that the pregnancy favors the appearance of varicose disease, but highlights a deficiency of the vein structure, which probably caused in the absence of pregnancy and connective tissue mobility (of support), will not reach to manifest as such.
Pathogenicity (mode of production); the varicose disease is a term for dilation (swelling) of the surface veins of lower limbs. These veins, like any other veins of the body, take the blood brought to those regions in arteries and lead it back to the heart. In the legs, blood flows, logically, to the heart, so bottom up when the man is in orthostatic position (standing). Blood flows against gravity and that it is how human circulation is composed of, in veins, the point furthest from the heart, in the legs (the lower leg wearing a sock) the pressure is not enough to push the blood up to the heart than when the man lies and his feet are at the same level with the heart. When the man stands up, the heart is above the feet and the pressure in the veins of the legs increases as the difference in level between the heart and legs.
Blood does not have the pressure needed to overcome this height and still, to a healthy man, blood reaches the heart through an artificial adjustment to standing: the presence of vein valves, which fragment the column of blood
from veins in the columns of equal height with that of the venous valves (about 8-10 centimeters), columns that are light. Any alteration of the venous valvular system is reflected in the pressure of the veins and on the sense of circulation, the varicose disease beginning usually in the big safena vein, where is located the most important vein valve involved in initiating the varicose disease. This hostile safena valve is located somewhere to the thigh root and is located in the same place on all people and is the main root of varicose veins.
On the other hand, there are roots located in other places, in the calf and thigh, where the blood bypasses the superficial venous system and goes directly into the deep system to take it to the heart. These roots, known by doctors as penetrating, also have valves that can be hurt and so can become additional sources (or single) to supply the varicose veins.
Briefly explained, varicose veins have a main root (located at the root of the thigh or behind the knee) and additional roots, which have different localization for each man separately. When the man stands up and the valves at the root of the varicose veins level are incompetent (broken), the blood escapes through the roots because of pressure and load (swollen) veins in the area and determine aesthetic, functional and pathologic discomforts and give shape to the varicose disease.
