Varicose veins
Synonyms: varicose disease, hydrostatic varicose veins
Definition: in the explanatory dictionary of the Romanian language (DEX) online there are 5 definitions for "varicose veins". All definitions contain the term expansion, the 'chronic' or 'permanent' element and some definitions refer to: the cause of this condition, namely loss of elasticity in the veins, the most common location of disease (legs) and that the term refers to a disease. Etymologically, the word varicose comes from Fr. varices, lat. varix, -ricis.
Classification:
Location: the lower limbs (when doctors say varices they usually refer to dilated veins located in the legs), genital, esophageal.
Staging (the lower limbs varicose veins): an operational classification (useful, they can do something about it) is the classification of the author (unverified in all scientific articles and books and if any doctor is guided by these stages is:
1. Asymptomatic stage. The disease exists, varicose veins are visible and / or tangible, but the patient does not accuse (symptoms).
2. Symptomatic stage: varices "angry" the patient. Symptoms accused are:
a. Paresthesia (neurological accuse), described by the patient as: numbness, tingling, pricking, pain as burning, itching;
b. The sensation of "heavy foot";
c. Venous nocturnal claudication (the knurl cramps, calf muscles), described by the patient as a contraction (cramp) in the calf, which occurs during sleep.
3. Stage of complications, the most common being:
a. chronic leg edema;
b. chronic venous ulcer;
c. superficial vein thrombosis (sometimes called thrombophlebitis);
d. dermal of stasis (pigmented skin, "black");
e. bleeding, which can externalize or if the skin is intact is distinguished as a bruising (bruise) or hematoma (collection);
f. long-term treatment complications, by „non specialists”, of which the most common are on the skin: allergy, manifested as a dermatitis (eczema), atopic (allergic), tissue sclerosis (fat) subcutaneously, etc.
